Help Save Handmade Toys!

600x600hta I just wanted to make a small plug for this group that is working against new legislation that puts unfair and probably unintended financial pressure on small toymakers.  While on the whole this legistlation sounds great, bit appears to have been written in such a way that it unintentionally requires the same safety standards from small craftsman, even those working with more green materials or age old techniques, in an attempt to regulate the toxicity and safety of mass manufactured toys.  I urge you to check this out on your own and see if it is something you might want to support.  I’m not sure how much can be done at this stage, but there is a petition that can be signed, a facebook group, and sample letters for your representatives.  Hopefully it will get enough attention and traction for some exemptions or small changes to be made at some point.  I know there was an article in our local paper about a local company, Sarah’s Silks (whose silk scarves are the only dress-up my daughter enjoys), that is being impacted by this legislation, and I am sure there are some companies in your area as well, that you may love too.
